Is Euflexxa right for me?

How do I know if it’s time for me to start using Euflexxa?

If you are like most people, you may find it hard to accept that you have a condition requiring a prescription therapy. However, Euflexxa is for those patients in the mild to moderate stages of OA of the knee who have pain and would like to continue to enjoy regular activities. It treats the pain at the source and helps improve functioning for daily activities. Euflexxa may be right for you if you have osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee and you are not getting enough relief from simple pain medications, like acetaminophen, or from exercise and physical therapy. Euflexxa may also be an option if you are allergic to or have side effects from pain medications commonly used to treat OA, including:

  • Aspirin
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
    • These are sometimes called NSAIDs, and include medications such as ibuprofen and naproxen
  • COX-2 inhibitor [Celecoxib]
    • This is a special type of NSAID prescribed by your doctor
  • Certain hyaluronic acid (HA) therapies that cannot be used in people with allergies to poultry products (including eggs and feathers)

Euflexxa may not be an option for you if you have:

  • A known allergy to hyaluronate preparations
  • A knee joint infection
  • Infection or skin disease in the area where Euflexxa is injected

The best way to learn more about Euflexxa is to speak with your doctor. You may also want to take the Euflexxa Self-Assessment Quiz, which provides you with a helpful summary that you can print out and take with you to your doctor.
